It was billed as an easy “Social Ride” with
people talking and showing off the new duds. This weekend fit well
into all the tweaked out training schedules that 30 different people
have. The only thing that almost put a kibosh on the ride was a
coffee shop which was near the start of the ride, but why is that
different than any other street corner in Charlotte? We had 14 people
show up for the first real training ride that we’ve been able to
muster together in 3 years; I guess this team understands what it
means to be a team. Being in the back of the pack for most of the
ride, I was able to get some decent shots of the group and keep in
contact long enough so as not to feel like an oxygen thief.
We rode as a group for the better part of an
hour, then some felt squirrelly and needed to stretch their legs out a
little on the way back in from Van Wyck. No causalities except for
the severed possum head which was on the train tracks, what a horrible
demise.
The new clothes stand out in a crowd, especially
with a group of 14 people riding together, except for the fact that we
saw “South Carolina” state signs, and one would have thought that we
were in some far away land; now that is something to ponder!
