The Road Team is looking really good these last few races! Great job guys!
Congratulations to Jason Marshall who finished first in the Bubba Category for the Tour de Kale. I really think they could have found a better name for that category...Jason is far from being a "bubba", but the event was held in Denton, NC, so I guess that explains it.
Congratulations to Chris Thomas who finished 3rd overall in the Masters 35+ for the Piedmont Omnium. He was 3rd in the criterium on Friday, 8th in the road race on Saturday and 3rd in the time trial on Sunday. It was a close one after the road race on Saturday, but his 3rd place in the Time Trial on Sunday gave him the points he needed to secure that 3rd place overall! The team worked hard to keep Chris up near the front in the road race hoping to give him the points he needed and it worked.
Congratulations to Todd Clapp for his 4th place finish in the road race for the Piedmont Omnium.
I was able to get my first podium finish (and nice medal) coming in 3rd place at the NC State Games Criterium in Greensboro on June 22. I'm starting to really like this road stuff.

The mountain bike team continues to do well in the weekly summer series.
The race last week at Fisher Farm was the first one for the Farm and it left a lasting impression with the "perfect storm" hitting around Lap 2. When the wind starting whipping up, I could hear branches falling and I yelled to one of the girls in front of me to watch out for falling limbs. Unfortunately, TJ wasn't close enough to hear the warning and proceeded to get knocked off his bike by a rather large limb (at least he said it was a large limb). He ended up with a few scratches and finished in 3rd place. The adrenaline was already up, but with the addition of the pouring rain, lightening, thunder, wind, slick trail and slick roots, it kicked into high gear. It was actually a blast! Next up the Whitewater Center tomorrow night! Maybe this time I will do the trails I'm supposed to do and leave out the extra mileage :)
The road team was in Salisbury this past weekend for the NC Road Race Championships. It was a hot one! The course was great, relatively flat with several rollers. The ClifBar team was out in force.
Congratulations to Brian Conroy on his 2nd place finish Saturday in the Master Men 40-44!! Great job guys.

June 6, 2008 Catawba Riverfront Classic
It was a tough day at the Riverfront Classic yesterday for some of the mountain bike team, but for others it turned out pretty good. It was held at the Whitewater Center which is one of the toughest courses around, then you add the heat and humidity. Let me just say, from my perspective, it was brutal!! Congrats to the following:
Austin Joyner 1st place Juniors 13-14
Brian Conroy 3rd place Expert Men 40-49
Sonny Joyner 10th place Sport Men 40+
Leah Mitcham 1st place Sport Women 40+
